Robert Kaiser

Mozilla Rep | Tech Speaker

O členu

  • Downloaded and tested Mozilla M5 in 1999.
  • Fiddled around with its "chrome" files and created the first version of today's LCARStrek theme as well as first steps for a German Localization.
  • Providing German suite L10n since late 1999, also contributing to localization of shared core code and on occasion, mostly for reviews, to Firefox (desktop and mobile), Firefox OS and Thunderbird.
  • Starting summer of 2004, assembled and lead a new volunteer team for the Mozilla Localization Project, which was later obsoleted by paid L10n drivers, but had to fill a gap for some time.
  • When in early 2005 the new SeaMonkey project took over managing the application suite as a volunteer project, helped to get this off the ground and emerged as project coordinator for SeaMonkey. Held that position until early 2011. Still member of the SeaMonkey Council but not involved much in the project any more.
  • Developed some (now discontinued) add-ons like Tahoe Data Manager, Jökulsárlón Download Manager and a Mandelbrot set viewer, and some web apps including a web version of the Mandelbrot set viewer, a Star-Trek-like Tricorder for displaying various sensor data and the OpenStreetMap-based Lantea Maps app for map display and GPS track recording.
  • From February 2011 to April 2016, analyzing crashes for Firefox (desktop, mobile and OS), increasing stability and working with the Socorro team to improve the crash investigation toolset.
  • In that period, working for Mozilla as Project Manager for Stability (see above) and Release Quality.
  • Mozilla Rep in Vienna/Austria.
  • Since early 2017, additionally active as a Mozilla Tech Speaker.

Robert Kaiser used to be the driving force behind the SeaMonkey project. In recent years, he has become more discreet there (but not absent); nowadays his main focus (as I see it) is on crash analysis. He has also written several add-ons (extensions and complete themes) for SeaMonkey and Firefox.
